Description

This is a technique used in modern times but is based on the principle on which in the past glass sheets - which were made by cutting a blown cylinder - were reduced to a perfectly horizontal surface using a furnace.

In modern production, a flat sheet is, by contrast, laid on a surface of refractory material of a pre-determined shape, generally concave. The sheet is laid on a mould in a furnace and takes on the same shape.
