Nipped Diamond-Wise

Description

The name derives from a note by the famous English glass craftsman George Ravenscroft in 1677. But it was already in use during the Venetian Renaissance.

The craftsman applies vertical filaments of glass onto the surface of the blown object to produce relief ribbing. He can also produce the same effect by using half-moulding. Then he uses pincers to nip every second pair to produce relief rhombuses.
