Description
This is a very old technique which today though is also used for sculpture-sized works in the glass studio.
In this process, incandescent glass is poured into moulds generally made of iron, graphite or refractory clay, but even in wet sand so that it assumes the negative form of the mould, and a solid consistency.
The French pâte de verre technique - based on the fusion of glass powder in a mould - belongs to this category.
The slow cooling of large objects can even take four weeks.
